North of Bromsgrove lies Birmingham and lines to Glasgow and Edinburgh.

East of Moreton in Marsh lies Oxford, Didcot Parkway and London Paddington. East of Swindon lies Didcot Parkway and London Paddington.

South of Chippenham and Bath Spa lies Westbury and lines to Salisbury and Weymouth and sout of Bristol Temple Meads lies Weston Super Mare, Taunton, Exeter and Penzance.

West of Severn Tunnel Junction lies Newport, Cardiff and Swansea. West of Malvern Link lies Great Malvern, Colwall, Ledbury and Hereford.

  How different the scene was in the Edwardian era when both the Great Western and Midland & South Western Junction Railways had a strong presence in the north Cotswolds. Today only the former Midland lines remain part of Network Rail while the section from Cheltenham Racecourse to Toddington is preserved as the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway.
