Tibberton Methodist Church

TibbertonMC_chapel exteriorTibberton is a small agricultural village situated four miles west of Gloucester and on the edge of the Forest of Dean. The population is around 600, and most villagers of working age travel to local towns for employment.  In spite of the dormitory nature of the village, it boasts many social activities and has a Parish Church, Village Hall and a Primary School.

The Methodist Church was built in 1839, now the Gloucestershire Circuit’s oldest purpose-built Methodist Chapel, and is surrounded by open countryside on the outskirts of the village. Despite its small size of 7 members, the Church is quite active within the community; individual members are involved in a variety of village initiatives including School assemblies an after-school club and a monthly coffee morning for local residents. Relations with nearby Holy Trinity Church of England are excellent and monthly united services alternate between church and chapel. The Methodist Church also works closely with May Hill and Hartpury Methodists, sharing united services once a quarter and regular joint mid-week discussion.
